We have been raising goats for about 9 years, beginning with a small herd of Boers. We currently run about 150 does.
We have a commercial herd of Boer crosses. Most of our does have some Boer. Kikos have been mixed in our herd from the beginning. We have added some more Spanish blood in 2019 and have most recently added some Savanna Boer crosses. We are striving to breed a goat, regardless of the breed, that produces marketable kids that show good growth with little input. We expect our does, no matter their blood lines, to thrive in the harsh, dry climate. They must be excellent mothers with good milk production good feet and high parasite resistance.
We have retained the majority of our doelings for a number of years, to build our herd and to see how they performed. We are confident we are producing a quality animal. We have high percentage Boer, Boer Kiko, Boer Spanish and Boer Savanna, and kids of three or more crosses available.
